If you see the following error message during the set up of the PrintWhere app:
This is because the user must obtain admin rights to the device in order to complete the installation and set up.
For IWG team members – please log an IT ticket.
For customers – please support them with the following information and steps below:
NOTE: Running the PrintWhere Printer Manager App as admin or “Run as admin” using Admin Credentials like a Domain Admin account will only yield the same error. Therefore, customers should ensure that the device user is added as local admin on the computer prior to installation and setup.
The below steps can be used to grant user admin rights on PC:
STEP ONE: To check if the logged in user is an Administrator, go to Settings > Accounts:
If the user is not shown as an Administrator, follow the next steps:
STEP TWO: Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools, then right-click on Computer Management and select Run as administrator:
STEP THREE: Click to expand Local Users and Groups > select Groups > double-click to open Administrators:
STEP FOUR: Click Add… then enter the user’s login name to be added as a Local admin on the PC, then click OK:
After the user has been added to the computer’s local admin group, you can proceed with the setup of the Printwhere Printer Manager app.
NOTE – before setting up please ensure it is not already running in the background. To do so, right-click the PrintWhere 6.2 icon in your System Tray and click Close. Alternatively, you can open Task Manager (CTRL + ALT + Del), search for PrintWhere 6.2 and click End Task to end the process.
STEP FIVE: Since the user is now added as an admin on the PC, you can use “Run as Admin” for the PrintWhere Printer Manager App (ensure to enter the user’s account when it prompts for admin credentials):
STEP SIX: Follow the remaining installation steps in the HP cloud printing user guide here (see page 3, from step 2).
